The album peaked at number thirty-nine on the Billboard 200 chart and reached the sixth spot on the R&B Albums chart. Leo Stanley of Allmusic noted Murray’s improving rhythmic skills, stating that Murray’s defiantly East Coast style of production “can make the record a little monotonous, but his kinetic verbal energy keeps Enigma exciting and fresh.”
